FERTILISING LAWNS

TOP DRESSING HELPS. Lawn grass grows very quickly at this season of year. A top-dressing of lawn fertiliser greatly helps in ensuring a good sward. Sulphate of ammonia, at once ounce per square yard, will make a wonderful difference. For better distribution, mix the fertiliser with some dry sand or earth. Scatter as evenly as possible, preferably during showery weather. If put on the grass in dry weather, water in at once. If, however, the sulphate of ammonia is intended to kill large-leaved weeds, it is better put on when the weather is likely to be dry for a few days.
