MEETING OF WOMEN HELPERS.

The annual meeting of the Dominion 1 executive of the Toe H. League of women helpers, New Zealand, held at Lower Hutt, was attended by the Rev. O. W. Williams, of Christchurch, Hon. Dominion Padre, Miss Helen Benbow, General Secretary, from London Headquarters, apd the following Regional representatives:—-Mrs M. Bruce, Mrs M. Wren (Auckland Region); Miss E. Riddick, Miss D. Quinton (Wellington Region); Mrs M. Hurrell, Miss N. McArtney (Nelson Region); Miss E. Hyland, Miss J. Mayo (Canterbury Region); Mrsl. Gibbs, Miss J. Elwood (Otago Region). The chair was taken by Miss Benbow. An apology was received from the Patroness, Lady Galway, who had been invited to attend. The chairman reported that Her Excellency had shown her interest in the movement by generously consenting to donate a lamp to one of the new branches. It was suggested that this lamp should be presented to the Nelson unit which had just attained branch status.

Reports were received from units throughout the Dominion showing that renewed stimulus had been given to development during the year. The range of community service was being extended, wider contact had been made with social service organisations, and generally a keener spirit was being displayed by members. In addition, outside support had been obtained by the enrolment of associate members, who were willing to further the aims of the movement and help by financial contributions. The chairman reported that a new unit had been started at New Plymouth, the members of which were showing great enthusiasm.

The resignation of Miss E. Riddick, Hon. Dominion Secretary, was received with regret, and • the thanks '■ of all members were extended to her for her services during the past four years. Mrs I. Gibbs, Otago Region, was ejected Hon. Dominion Secretary, and Miss D. Quinton was re-elected Hon. Dominion Treasurer.

The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to Miss Helen Benbow for the splendid reorganisation work which'she had accomplished during the past nine months.
