YOUNG FARMERS
MASTERTON CLUB ACTIVITIES. PROPOSED WORLD TOUR. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Young Farmers’ Club was held last night. Mr D. McGregor, junr, presided over a fair attendance of members. The secretary read correspondence regarding a world tour by a party of New Zealand Young Farmers to take place next year. The party would be due to leave New Zealand in April, and return in August. The tour would include a visit to England, Denmark. Holland, Belgium, France and Scotland, and manj' farms and colleges in each country would be included in the itinerary. Any members who wished to participate in part of the tour only could do so. Further information can be obtained from the secretary.
The club held a debate on: That a dairy farm takes more managerial ability than a sheep farm. The leader for the affirmative was Mr J. S. Mackay and that for the negative. Mr G. Blatchford. Other speakers were: Affirmative, Messrs D. McGregor, K. Donovan, J. Wright, G. Buick, N. Wyeth; negative, C. Mackay. L. McLachlan, K. McLachlan, W. Dalgleish. Mr J. E. Tier, assisted by Mr Mills, adjudicated and awarded the debate to the 'affirmative. At the conclusion eV the debate Mr Tier gave an interesting and instructive address on how to conduct a debate, giving the members many helpful hints.
Supper was servied, after which the chairman wished members the compliments of the season. The next meeting will be held in February.
