TAKER OF SMALL SILVER BETS.

Taking small silver bets last Saturday when the Otaki races were being held proved an unprofitable business for James David Dunn. He appeared before Mr J. Miller, S. M„ today, and was fined £2O and costs. He pleaded guilty to a charge of keeping a dwelling as a common gaming-house. When the police visited the place it was found that 19 bets had been taken, totalling £3 17s.
