The Otago match will be begun at Carisbrook on December 31. All Plunket Shield matches are limited to four days. Auckland is the present holder of the trophy and its fixture against Wellington will be played at Eden Park in the first week in February. The touring team will play a one-day match against South Canterbury in Timaru on December 29.
The Auckland team is substantially the same as that which won the shield last season. With H. G. Vivian available the side will be greatly strengthened all round, but the loss of W. N. Carson, who has had to stand down until the present because of a football injury, is a severe one.
