ST MATTHEW’S CLUB AFFAIRS. REDUCTION OF SUBSCRIPTION. A special meeting of the St Matthew’s Tennis Club was held last night. The Rev E. J. Rich was in the chair. Full consideration was given to the club’s financial position. On the motion of Mrs E. J. Rich, seconded by Mr C. J. Carle, it was decided that the subscription for the year be reduced to 10s. It was considered that this rate would be an encouragement for beginners or players to join the club. The resignation of the club’s secretary, Mr A. D. Crookenden, who is taking up a Government position in Wellington, was received with deep regret and appreciation of his services was placed on record.

Mr Rich referred to the excellent services, over a long term of years, given by Mr Crookenden and expressed the regret of the club at Mr Crookenden’s departure. Mr Crookenden expressed his appreciation of the loyal support he had always received from club members. Miss G. Hopkins accepted the office of hon secretary. Appreciation was expressed by Mr Rich to the members of the club who had kept it together this season. When the membership grew their loyal services would be remembered. MEMORIAL CLUB TEAMS.
