Thousands of people watched a spectacular battle, lasting half an hour over Valencia this morning. Twenty-six Italian and German bombers tried to fly over the city, but ten Government planes met the raiders on the outskirts and drove them off, after they had dropped 250 bombs on the port area and on coastal villages, killing nineteen civilians.
