(Received This Day, 9.0 a.m.) LONDON, December 4. “Reynold’s News” declares that Germany, having defined ghettos for the Jews, is at present preparing an attack on Catholics. She is casting covetous eyes on their wealth and plans, a “fine,” to redeem their churches and church .property. The newspaper quotes e a recent speech by Dr. Alfred Rosenberg,, the Nazi “director'-'"of philosophical outlook,” in which he said: —“The Catholic Church also the Protestant confessional Church in its present form must disappear from the life of our people." SCHUSCHNIGG’S FATE NAZIS AND THE POPE. ATTEMPTED BLACKMAIL. (Received This Day, 9.0 a.m.) LONDON, December 4. The “Sun Pictorial” declares: “The Nazis are attempting to blackmail the Pope- into 'withdrawing his. anti-Hitler propaganda, by threatening .the life of Dr. von Schuschnigg, who is gravely ill in a one-roomed prison at the top of a Vienna hotel.” It is believed that the Pope was preparing an encyclical before his recent illness, denouncing religious and racial persecution.” PASTOR NIEMOLLER. RELEASE SAID TO BE IN PROSPECT. (Received This Day, 9.0 a.m.) BERLIN, December 4. It is reliably stated that Herr Hitler has promised to release Pastor Niemoller shortly.
