HUGE FRAUD

4 ALLEGEDLY WORTHLESS BONDS CHORUS GIRLS TO LOBBY CONGRESSMEN. NEW YORK BROKER DENIES CHARGES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. NEW YORK, December 3. Mr William Buckner, a debonair 31-year-old broker, broke a date with the film actress, Loretta Young, yesterday in order to keep one with Federal agents, who arrested him on a milliondollar bond fraud charge. Mi- Buckner indignantly denied tonight that he used Broadway chorus girls to lobby Congressmen. “I am amazed at the charges; they are ridiculous,” he declared after his release on bail with his partner, Mr William Gilliespie, aged 39. Mr Buckner, who is a member of a prominent financial family, was arrested as he was preparing to fly to Hollywood after his arrival back from England. He telephoned Loretta Young and explained the situation, adding: “This will affect both our lives.” The Press is publishing messages from Loretta Young which were’found ■in Mr Buckner’s luggage. They are couched in the most affectionate terms. Mr Buckner denied keeping _ open house for Congressmen at Washington for three months and spending 5000 dollars on a lavish party _at which chorus girls assisted Mr Gillespie and himself in an attempt to secure legislation guaranteeing interest on his worthless bonds.
