Karitane Nurses Scarce.

The 'shortage of Karitane nurses, which has been felt in Auckland lor quite two years, is acute at present. The Blanket Society has far more requests for nurses than it is able to fill, and on some days recently there has been a constant stream of applicants. many of whom have had to be disappointed. The president of the society (Mrs J. C. Allan) said that there was an ever-increasing demand for the trained assistance which could be given by Karitane nurses. There was an almost unlimited supply of the best type of girls offering for training, but the society could accept no more than the hospital facilities permitted. Under pressure from doctors, the society had prepared plans for extending its Karitane Hospital, particularly the ward for premature babies.
