MARTON JOCKEY CLUB
TROPHIES FOR NEW YEAR MEETING. Handsome trophies have been donated by two stewards of the Marton Jockey Club for the gentleman riders’ events at the New Year meeting, which will be held on Monday and Tuesday, January 2 and 3. A canteen of cutlery valued at £l5 has been presented by a steward for the winner of the firstday Ladies’ Bracelet, a race run under hack conditions. A trophy valued at £3O accompanies the winner's share of the £5OO stake-money provided for the Marton Cup. The trophy is a handsome oak grandfather clock, standing six feet high, with beautiful toned chimes. On the second day of the meeting the Ladies’ Necklace carries a canteen of cutlery valued at £l5 presented by a steward of the club. For the Rangitikei Hack Cup, run over a mile and a quarter for a stake of £3OO a tea and coffee service is provided. This valued and handsome trophy comprises a silver tray, coffee pot, tea-pot, hot-water jug, cream bowl, and sugar bowl. The stakes for the meeting have been increased and the programme should commend itself to owners, and trainers. Nominations for all events are due to close on Wednesday, December 14. Acceptances will close at 9 p.rn. on Wednesday, December 28.
