RECRUITING RALLY
OPENED BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. COMMUNISTS HOWLED DOWN BY SYDNEY CROWD. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. SYDNEY, December 2. The Federal Government’s opening of its recruiting rally in Martin Place during the city lunch hour to-day was marked by angry scenes in which leading Communists figured while distributing their own handbills, which the majority of the crowd regarded as offensive. Heated arguments occurred and Communist' speakers were howled down. The police were compelled to disperse noisy groups.
