DISCUSSION IN BRITAIN

By Telegraph—Preas Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, December 1.

The “Daily Telegraph’s” tennis correspondent, Mr Wallis Myers, discussing a proposal to legalise the payment of expenses to competitors at open tournaments which is being con■idered by the Lawn Tennis Association on December 9, declares that the, association should not find it difficult to agree to a formula whereby a player would be allowed to compete at any sanctioned tournament, receiving ■uch hospitality as the committee are able to arrange. He adds that the belief that it is necessary to make championship' tennis a whole-time occupation is fallacious.
