MUSSOLINI’S INTIMATION TO HITLER ASSURANCE OF AID IN EVENT OF |WAR. MR CHAMBERLAIN'S APPEAL SUPPORTED. (Independent Cable Service.) ROME, December 1. The Italian Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, today revealed for the first time that, during the Czech •'crisis, Signor Mussolini informed Herr Hitler that, in the event of a general war Italy would aid Germany as she would feel herself menaced. Referring to Mr Chamberlain’s appeal to Signor Mussolini to intervene in the Czech crisis, Count Ciano said that the Duce immediately phoned the Italian Ambassador in Berlin instructing him to tell Herr Hitler that he advised him to delay for 24 hours. “That telephone message saved humanity from a tragic trial,” added Count Ciano.
