General situation: A rather deep westerly depression with a considerable northward extension is beginning to cross the southern portion of the South Island; pressure is rising over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Moderate but increasing north to north-west winds, but a change to soo.th-westerly probable tomorrow; weather cloudy to overcast at first but gradually becoming unsettled and some rain probable; temperatures warm but becoming rather cooler tomorrow.
