LADIES’ REST ROOM. NOW OPEN FOR USE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The ladies rest room is now open in the Library Buildings. It has been comfortably furnished with a couch and easy chairs. There is an electric kettle which can be used on payment of Id. The Rest Room will be found very convenient for country people as well as the town folk. It will certainly fill a long felt want. Card Tournament. At the Fire Brigade’s card tournament on Tuesday night Miss M. Nix gained first prize and Mrs Mellish second in the ladies section. Mrs Cross (1) and Mr Reg Watson (2) won the prizes in the men’s division. Personal. Mr and Mrs H. Merwood, who have lived in the Kaiwaiwai district for the past 28 years, will leave this week to take up their residence in Carterton. Pat Moriarity, son of Mr and Mrs J. Moriarity, who is in Kelvin Hospital, is making satisfactory progress as is also his sister Morelia, who has been ill. Croquet. A croquet match was played at Featherston yesterday between the Masterton and Haunui clubs. The games resulted as follow (Masterton players mentioned first in every case): — Ladies’ singles: Mrs Donnelly lost to Mrs Wakely, 13/26; Mrs Finlayson lost to Miss Nix, 14/26; Mrs Polson beat Mrs Barry, 26/21; Mrs Bassett lost to Mrs Watson, 23/26.
Ladies’ doubles: Mesdames Finlayson and Donnelly beat Mrs Wakely and Miss Nix, 26/23; Mesdames Bassett and Polson lost to Mesdames Barry and Watson, 14/26. 1
