NEGLIGENCE ADMITTED

MOTORIST FINED £2O. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, November 29. Describing the circumstances as among the worst that had been brought to his notice, Mr J. Miller, S.M., imposed a fine of £2O on James Osler, Wairoa, and cancelled his driver’s licence for twelve months. . Osler was charged with the negligent driving of a car in Omahu Road, Hastings. The facts of the case revealed that he failed to stop after the car collided with another vehicle and though originally the police laid a second charge on this account it was withdrawn this morning. The defendant did not appear but a plea of guilty to the charge of negligent driving was entered. The police evidence showed that the defendant was located about an hour and a half after the collision. He was then showing signs of being under the influence of liquor.
