ARMY POSTERS

RESULTS OF RECENT COMPETITIONS.

THIRD PRIZE TO MASTERTON ENTRANT.

It is announced by Army Headquarters that the following entrants were successful in the recent poster competition organised to popularise Territorial

training:— Section A —2nd Lieutenant E. McAra, Ist Battalion, Wellington Regiment, “City of Wellington’s Own,” Wellington, 1; Corporal D. G. McNab. 2nd Field Co.. N.Z. Engineers, Napier, 2; Sergeant J. K. Welch, “C” Co., Ist Battalion Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Masterton, 3.

Section B—E. O. Chapman' 5 Donald Crescent, Wellington and R. Clark, 52 Hankey Street, Wellington, equal 1; P. Moore-Jones, 12 Kotinga Street, Kilbirnie, Wellington, 3. The Poster Competition was divided into two categories, (a) Being open only to serving members of the New Zealand Military Forces, the main condition being for a suggestion or design for a poster conveyed by a rough sketch, but not intended as being suitable for direct reproduction: (b) Open entry from members of the general public and the Military Forces for a finished design in colour, suitable for direct reproduction with a maximum of 6 colours.

The prizes awarded are as follows: — (a) Ist prize, ,£5 ss; 2nd prize, £2 2s; 3rd prize, £l’ Is; (b), Ist prize, £lO 10s; 2nd prize, £5 ss; 3rd prize, £2 10s. In the case of the open entry competition the judges decided that the posters submitted by Messrs Chapman and Clark showed such exceptional merit that it was decided to award these entrants Ist equal prize, and divide the first and second prize money. It was particularly gratifying to find such a large number of entrants from members of the Territorial Force, and also a number of contributions from ladies, and arrangements will be made early in the New Year to display posters throughout New Zealand.
