annual demonstration. LIST OF AWARDS. The members of the First Masterton Company of the Girl’s Life Brigade held their annual demonstration in the Methodist Sunday School last evening, the Rev. Fred J. Parker occupying the chair. A most interesting programme was presented, revealing the fine work of the Brigade Company, and interspersed with elocutionary and vocal items. Those who contributed items were: — Solo, Miss D. O’Donnell; pianoforte solo, Miss Gillespie (Company pianiste); elocution, Lieutenant Betty Mannell and Rona Killington. Company items were staged as follows: —Opening chorus and recitation of the Brigade law and promise, wand drill by the cadets and juniors and physical drill by the seniors and by the entire company. Resuscitation of the apparently drowned was illustrated by a team of girls, while another team showed the use. of first aid in an emergency. A temperance playette written by one of the girls was acted by one of the sections. In complimenting the company officers (Miss Jansen, captain, and Miss Betty Mannell, lieutenant), the chairman made mention of the splendid work done during the year and of the useful nature of so much of the work as well as ’the inculcation of the highest ideals of citizenship. Tribute was also paid to the members of the governing committee for their splendid co-operation. At the close of the demonstration, the chairman presented the badges and awards won during the year as follows:— Good Service Medal: Irene Shoosmith. Art Needlework Certificates: Eileen Wiltshire, Joyce Pike. Badge: Eileen Wiltshire. Hygiene Certificates: Irene Shoosmith, Yvonne Foster, Rona Killington. Elementary Art Certificate: Girlie Pike, Irene Shoosmith. Swimming Badge: Irene Shoosmith. Scripture Badges: Kathleen Wiltshire, Margaret Lyttle. Bar: Eileen Wiltshire. Passes in Scripture Examination: Irene Shoosmith, 90 per cent; Rona Killington, 89 per cent; Girlie Pike, 73 per cent. Elementary Awards in Cadet Points: Joan Hunt, Merle Killington, Margaret Lyttle, Shirley Watson, Kathleen Wiltshire. ■ Advanced Points: Joan Hunt, Margaret Hunt, Joyce Pike, Margaret Lyttle, Kathleen Wiltshire.
