THEFT OF POSTAL PACKETS

ACCUSED SENT TO GAOL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, November 22. Raymond Hanna Lavender, aged 23, married, formerly a postal officer in Gore, was sentenced in the Supreme Court today to three months’ imprisonmnte for the theft, of four postal packets containing £2 10s. Accused had been in the postal service for 10 years. His Honour, Mr Justice Kennedy, said that thefts of this kind threw suspicion on others and might be the cause of hardship to persons receiving money through the post and in need of ’.hat money.
