FIRE VOLUNTEERS
SPECIAL BADGES AVAILABLE. Special badges for members of the British auxiliary fire services have been made available for issue immediately. The Fire Brigades Division of the Home Office, in a circular issued to local authorities throughout the country recently, states that the Home Secretary (Sir Samuel Hoare) has decided to institute a buttonhole badge for the use of all volunteers who satisfactorily complete the prescribed course of training. The Crown has, by consent of the King, been incorporated in tne design of the badge. The following classes of personnel will be eligible to receive the badge. Auxiliary firemen who have completed the appropriate syllabus of training and accepted the conditions of service. Former whole-time or police firemen who have accepted the conditions. Fire pickets who have received a course of instruction in fire fighting, and Personnel recruited for service in various incidental capacities. Other persons who have undertaken voluntary duties without pecuniary benefit may receive the badge by special approval.
