CALEDONIAN SPORTS

ARRANGEMENTS FOR NEV/ YEAR GATHERING. Arrangements for the sports gathering to be held in Masterton on Monday, January 2 next were made by the directors of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society at their last meeting. The president, Mr J. B. Mac Lean occupied the chair. It was decided to book the Opera House for that day, so that in the even of wet weather the piping and dancing events could be held there. Last year, it was pointed out, a wet day was experienced and competitors were present from many parts of New Zealand and were unable to compete. The Wellington Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association advised that the following championships had been allotted to the Wairarapa Society's gathering: North Island slow marchpiping championship, open to all comers and North Island Highland Fling championship, open to competitors of 16 years and over.
