RAMSAY MACDONALD
ATTACKED “BY A FORMER SECRETARY. HEAD ALLEGEDLY TURNED. (Independent Cable Service.) LONDON, November 18. The Socialist M.P., Mr L. Macneill Weir, formerly private secretary to Mr Ramsay MacDonald, author of “The Tragedy of Ramsay MacDonald,” published today, accuses Mr MacDonald of lying during 1 the negotiations preceding the formation of the National Government, which was planned months ahead despite the appearance of national emergency. He describes his love of luxury, worship of wealth, and fondness for display and his social gmbition. His head was turned when the rich, who found him useful, lionised him. He had 10 secretaries, but neglected to work and became unapproachable to his colleagues.
