MEETING OF MASTERTON ASSOCIATION. ERECTION OF NEW GATES. The president, Mr P. R. Welch, presided at the monthly meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association, held last night. There was a good attendance of members. Various sub-committee reports were received and considered. It was reported that the old wooden gates at the Solway Showgrounds had “fallen down.” It was now proposed to erect a cyclone netting fence and gates. Mr -Welch said it was estimated that the gates would cost about £4O. The present scheme would not interfere with any proposal in the .future for the erection of elaborate gates. He 1 intended to canvass members of the committee and others and was pre- ' pared to start off by donating £5 him- » self. 1 Messrs T. A. Brown, R. E. Gordon Lee and P. D. McLachlan also offered ’ to give £5 each towards the cost of the gates. Accounts amounting to £B5 18s Id ■ were passed. Mr P. F. Fagan reported that foul 1 Wellington baseball teams would visit Masterton on December 3. The usual Wellington competition games would be played and keen interest was being shown locally in the sport. It was likely that the game would soon flourish in Masterton. It was decided to donate £l5 towards the cost of bringing the teams to Masterton. The games will be played at the Showgrounds and all school children will be admitted free of charge. ’ Four new members were elected. I It was stated that tin hare racing and 1 national dancing would be included in the programme for the Night Show. It was decided to give free space in ’ the hall during Show time for displays by members of the Women’s Division ’ and the Women’s Institutes.
