OUR FORMER KING
MEETING WITH BROTHER IN PARIS TALK OF POSSIBLE VISIT TO ENGLAND. RETURN TO FORT BELVEDERE SUGGESTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, November 12. The Paris correspondent of the “News Chronicle” states that: “So glad to see you again, old man,” was the Duke of Windsor’s greeting as he shook hands with his brother, the Duke of Gloucester, slapping him on the shoulder.
A street violinist played “God Save the King” outside the Hotel Meurice when the Duke and Duchess pf Gloucester ascended in the lift to the third floor, when the Duke and Duchess of Windsor greeted them, the duchesses kissing. They then went to the Duke of Windsor’s flowerdecorated suite overlooking the famous Rue' de Rivoli for a talk, which the Paris correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says may make English history. The brothers discussed the future, the Duke of Windsor firing off questions regarding events in England and assuring the Duke of Gloucester of his desire to serve Britain during the recent crisis and his anxiety to keep in touch with his country’s life and spirit. The Duke was looking serious, but very happy, and vzas delighted to see his brother again and discuss the details of a possible journey to England to see his mother and other members of the Royal Family, which is expected to occur at the Christmas festivities at Sandringham. The party later set off in cars, amid the cheers of a large crowd, to see the Duke of Windsor’s • new Paris house. This, however, was abandoned. in order to avoid the welcoming throngs. Instead, they drove to the Bois de Boulogne and had tea with Baron de Rothschild.
The “News Chronicle”/ suggests that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor may take up their residence at Fort Belvedere.
