OBITUARY
MRS JANE ELIZABETH MASON. The death occurred at Wanganui early this morning of Mrs Jane Elizabeth Mason, who at one time was a resident of Featherston. The late Mrs Mason was born in 1852 and came to New Zealand in 1856, landing at Nelson. She lived at Blenheim and Wellington and went to Featherston over 50 years ago. In 1920 she shifted to Palmerston North where Mr Mason died 8 years ago. Mrs Mason is survived by a family of six sons and five daughters, one son (Leonard) having been killed while on active service at Gallopoli in 1915. The members of the family are Messrs Alfred (Palmerston North), Sydney (Wellington), William (Auckland), Vincent (Wellington), Howard (Palmerston North), and R. V. Mason (Masterton), and Mesdames Thompson (Kaikoura), Dillon (Palmerston North), Hawkins (Dannevirke), Hayward (Wellington) and Fromont (Wanganui). It was at Mrs Fromont’s residence that Mrs Mason passed away in her sleep. There are 38 grandchildren ?nd 14 great-grandchildren.
