“American films have poisoned the public,” declares the “Giornale D’ltalia,” welcoming the decision of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Fox, Warners and Paramount companies to close their Italian distribution centres at the end of the year. The paper asks that no film companies believe that Garbo, Norma Shearer, Cooper, Taylor, Laurel and Hardy are regarded as the personification of Italian ideals, and adds that the decision will allow Italy to defend her. currency and new national spirit.
