LONDON’S SHIPPING
During the week ended October 7, 853 vessels, representing 999,157 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these, 441 vessels (801,030 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports and 412 vessels (198,127 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included five meat cargoes, viz., two from Australia, two from New Zealand and one from South America, comprising 225,000 carcases oi lamb and mutton, 40,000 quarters of beef, quantities. of pork, rabbits and sundries. Eleven timber laden vessels docked in the Surrey Commercial Docks with 33,000 tons of softwood.
