COSY THEATRE
“ROAD GANG.” “Road Gang,” the Warner Bros, production scheduled as the feature attraction at the Cosy Theatre tonight, is a revelation of the terrible conditions existing in a penal institution. It is said to carry all the dynamic force of ”1 am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang,” and the rugged picturesqueness of “Black Fury.” The picture is one of stark realism, set in two locales; the first the prison farm, where human beings are subjected to medieval persecution; the second in the Blackfoot mines, where recalcitrant convicts are sent. Donald Woods and Carlye Moore, Junr., have the two principal convict roles. Entirely innocent of any crime they are framed by men, whom Woods, a newspaper correspondent, threatened to expose. The romantic angle is furnished by Kay Yinaker in the leading feminine role. The picture is filled with thrilling action, including a battle between police cars and one commandeered by a fleeing convict, the great mine strike, the blasting of the tunnel and the fight between guards and men armed only with picks and shovels. The other feature to be shown is “Personal Maid’s Secret,” a unique comedy. The talented cast is headed by Margaret Lindsay, Warren Hull, Anita Louise, and Ruth Donnelly.
