DUKE OF WINDSOR

REPORTED APPROACH TO KING DESIRE FOR ACTIVE WORK AMERICAN CORRESPONDENT’S STORY By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. NEW YORK, November 7. Commenting on a rumour that the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, on their way home from Kenya, will meet the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in Paris, the London correspondent of the “New York Daily News” says that the visit will be the result of an impassioned plea to the King from his brother “to save me from this boredom.”

The Duke of Windsor is reported to have repeated his request made during the Czechoslovakian crisis, adding: “My years of training for leadership are being wasted. Can’t I help?” It is stated that the Duke of Gloucester will sound the Duke of Windsor on his readiness to accept a diplomatic post overseas, probably in Egypt or Palestine. It is stated that a high official of the Egyptian State Railways saw him a week ago and offered to support him if he would accept the post of Ambassador to Egypt and High Commissioner to the Sudan. MEETING AT WEEKEND. REPORT AUTHORITATIVELY CONFIRMED. (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, November 8. The British United Press correspondent at Paris says it is authoritatively confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor are to meet the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at the weekend.
