RIVER IMPROVEMENTS

EMPIRE WALK AND OTHER PROPOSALS. ACTIVITIES OF BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY. Proposals for the improvement and beautification of the Waipoua River banks on the section located in Masterton Park were discussed on the site yesterday afternoon by a full meeting of members of the Masterton Beautifying Society’s committee. Mr H. E. Gardner explained the scope and arrangement of his proposed Empire Walk as a Centennial Memorial. Various other suggestions put forward by Mr F. C. Daniell for the general improvement of areas adjacent to the river were considered.

It was suggested that the proposals should be put into concrete form, so that they could be further considered by the Beautifying Society at its next meeting.
