“HAPPY DAYS”
ART UNION DRAWN. FIRST PRIZE TO CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. None of the major prizes in the ‘Happy Days” Art Union, drawn in Wellington last night, was won by a Wellington district ticket holder. First prize of £2OOO and third prize of £2OO went to Christchurch, second of £5OO to Ponsonby, Auckland, fourth of £lOO to Ashburton, and fifth of £75 to Gisborne. The following ticket holders won the first five prizes:— First Prize, £2OOO. “Mum and Me,” Christchurch. Second Prize, £5OO. W. Starkey, 52 Hepburn Road, Ponsonby. Third Prize, £2OO. “Kelly Pool,” J. Norton, 204 Wordsworth Street, Christchurch. Fourth Prize, £lOO. “Drunks,” 72 Aitkens Street. Ashburton. Fifth Prize, £75. “Labour Rains,” P.O. Box 152, Gisborne. A £lO prize was won by “Gilbys” (Masterton). Among the £5 prize winners were E. B. (Masterton), Ajax (Masterton), The Grandson (Greytown), J. Mahahu (Alfredton), Mrs Ahrens (Rangitumau), Hard Up (Masterton).
