LINESMAN RECEIVES SHOCK. SPINE FRACTURED BY FALL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Noyember 7. When George Henry Baker, linesman, Winton, a married man, aged 32, unbuckled his safety belt at the top of a 30ft. power pole this afternoon in preparation for descending, a steel ruler he had in his hand touched a line carrying 11,000 volts. He was hurled to the ground by the shock and received a fractured spine, but only minor burns on the hand. He was taken to the Southland Hospital, where his condition is very serious.
