CHIANG KALSHEK DIRECTING STRONG FORCE RECAPTURE OF SAMSHUI CLAIMED. FIGHTING IN OTHER AREAS. (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) CHUNGKING. November 6. The Chinese claim the recapture of Samshui, near Canton, where a quarter of a million Kwangsi troops have surrounded the city under Marshal Chiang Kai-shek’s personal direction. The Japanese retired to Fushang. The Chinese repulsed a Japanese attack at Nanlingchiao, but elsewhere the Japanese are steadily advancing.
