CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES

FINE DISPLAY BY W. PETERSON. GOOD BOWLING AVERAGES. The Wairarapa Cricket Association continued its senior competitions on Saturday when some good individual betting and bowling was witnessed. At the College ground the wicket was in favour of the bowlers, but at the Park the pitch played easily. SENIOR COMPETITION RED STAR v OLD BOYS. The Red Star and Old Boys teams met on an easy wicket at Masterton Park on Saturday afternoon. Batting first, Old Boys made 130 and at the drawing of stumps Red Star had lost 1 wicket for 140, a faultless innings being played by W. Peterson for 77, not out. The scores were as follow: —

LANSDOWNE v COLLEGE. The Lansdowne and Wairarapa College teams commenced a match on the College ground, the latter batting first and compiling 44 on a dead wicket. Several of the Lansdowne trundlers returned creditable bowling averages.' Lansdowne put together 120, and at the drawing of stumps College in their second innings had 35 up without having lost a wicket. The scores were as follow:—
