COSY THEATRE
“WALLABY JIM.” '
If George Houston, strapping sixfooter, who sings like an opera star and fights like a stevedore, and is starred in Grand National’s new series, “Wallaby Jim of the Islands,” showing at the Cosy Theatre tonight had not adopted a screen career he would have made a promising Contender for honours in the squared circle as a prize-fighter. During the filming of this picture he had more than a dozen fights, individually and collectively, which are shown on the screen, and the wear and tear on his opponents was tremendous. As a story, “Wallaby Jim of the Islands” which is the first of a series of four film’ features based on the popular series of stories which ran in Colliers’ Magazine for a number of years, has plenty of action, suspense and dramatic moments. “Wallaby Jim,” the character played by Houston, is a rollicking roistering, two-fisted skipper of a pearl-fishing brig in the South Seas, who encounters more hair-raising and amazing adventures than are to be found in all the Arabian Nights. One of the finest comedy teams the screen has seen for years is the star attraction of the new Action Pictures comedy “Wolf’s Clothing,” the second feature film. Claude Hulbert and Gordon Harker make up the team, and it is the first time these two. popular comedians have appeared together in a film. “Wolf’s Clothing” is a comedy-drama of the most enthralling and riotous type.
