General situation: An intense anticyclone is centred just east of the South Island; pressure is low over Tasmania while a disturbance is apparently developing north of Norfolk Island. Forecast: Moderate north-east-erly winds freshening and northerly by tomorrow in the Straits; weather cloudy; temperatures mild to warm.
