EPIPHANY LADIES’ GUILD
ENJOYABLE SOCIAL. ADDRESS ON CHINA. A very enjoyable social was held in the Epiphany Hall yesterday afternoon under the auspices of the Church of the Epiphany Ladies’ Guild. A bright musical programme had been arranged, the following contributing items: —Pianoforte solos by Mrs Miller Hope, vocal duets by Mesdames Carstens and Traynor, vocal solos by Mrs Carstens, Mrs Traynor and Miss Y. Ruby. After a very dainty afternoon tea had been .served the Rev C. W. McDonall addressed the gathering. Mr McDonall is a New Zealand Missionary attached to the Cathedral Church in Peiping, North China, and has a first hand knowledge of the state of that country. His description of his work in that land was both instructive and entertaining. He illustrated his talk with some exquisite paintings drawn by a young Chinese man, Sila’s Yii, who has dedicated his art to the depicting of scenes from the Christian treasuries?
On behalf of the Ladies’ Guild the Rev T. V. Pearson extended a vote of thanks to Mr McDonall for his interesting address.
