WEDDING

STALKER—DUFFY. On Saturday, October 22, a pretty wedding was solemnised at St Matthew's Anglican Church, Masterton, when Eileen Mary, second daughter of Mr and Mrs B. W. Duffy, of Pirinoa, was married to William Lawrence, second son of Mr and. Mrs J. Stalker, of Masterton.

The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, wore a beautiful gown of pearl satin, with heartshaped neckline, and falling in a long graceful train caught in scallops with posies of orange blossom. Her long embroidered veil, held in place with orange blossom, formed a second train, and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies and maiden-hair fern.

The two bridesmaids, Dorothy Duffy (chief), sister of the bride, and Beatrice Stalker, sister of the bridegroom, wore graceful frocks of pink georgette cut on similar lines to those of the bride’s, with tiaras of silver leaves and little pink flowers. They wore double strings of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried sheaves of matching pink lilies. The bouquets were made by Mrs W. Emerson, a friend of the bride and bridegroom. The duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Mr Gordon Fraser, of Mauriceville, and Mr Reg. Duffy, brother of the bride, respectively.

A reception was held at the Savage Club rooms, the guests being received by Mrs Duffy, assisted by Mrs Stalker. Mrs Duffy wore a gown of black and white patterned sheer with black redingote, hat and accessories, and shoulder spray of scarlet anemones. Mrs Stalker was -dressed in a navy patterned frock with navy coat and accessories and toning shoulder spray.

Mr and Mrs Stalker left later for the north on their honeymoon, the bride wearing a smart navy frock and redingote with navy hat, purse and gloves. Mr and Mrs Stalker’s future home will be in Lower Hutt. A large number of guests were entertained at a very enjoyable dance following the reception, a happy time being spent in dancing.
