GREYTOWN
ST. LUKE’S CHURCH LADIES’ GUILD. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was an excellent attendance of members at the St. Luke’s Ladies’ Guild meeting. Mrs York presided and apologies for absence were received from' Mesdames Duff, Everett, Wiggins, Kidd, Smallwood, Barcham and Richards. A special vote of thanks was passed to Mr F. Wood for cleaning the grass away from the concrete path round the church. The secretary gave notice that the combined church choirs of Carterton would render a cantata on Sunday evening, November 20, the day set apart as special gift Sunday. Mrs Slater was accorded a vote of thanks for cleaning the brasswork during September and October. Miss Grace Graham has promised to do the same during November and December. The flowers for November will be attended to by Mrs Raison. The remainder of the meeting was spent in discussing final arrangements for the Paddy’s Market. Mrs Nichols and Mrs. Lohrey provided afternoon tea, for which they were heartily thanked. A vote of thanks was also passed to Mrs Robinson for the gift of a beautiful tablecloth for the use of the Guild. Cub Afternoon. A very pleasant afternoon was spent by the Greytown Cub Pack on Saturday when Miss B. Haigh, Cub Mistress, was the guest of honour to mark the occasion of her approaching marriage. A playette on Cub life was staged by the Cubs and several competitions were held. After a campfire sing song Mr L. R. Huntley, District Scout Commissioner, presented Miss Haigh with a crystal water set from the Cubs and a crystal salad bowl from the Greytown Committee.
