MANAWATU GORGE

SLIP BLOCKS ROADWAY. NOW PARTLY CLEARED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. Following upon heavy rain during ih<? last 24 hours, a slip came down in the Manawatu Gorge overnight and completely blocked the roadway, which, however, was cleared sufficiently to permit traffic to go through at 8.30 o’clock this morning. Care in driving is still needed. The countryside bears a sodden appearance. A strong wind yesterday did some damage to fruit trees and other plant growth in exposed places.
