Solway: Mr H. M. Boddington re-, ports that 118 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. General situation: in anti-cyclone covers most of the Tasman Sea and extends across the South Island; a series of shallow depressions continues to cross the North Island. Forecast: Moderate to strong north-easterly decreasing tonight; weather dull with intermittent misty rain,' but gradually improving; temperatures cool. SOLWAY RAINFALL FOR OCTOBER, 1938. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 11 days in.Oc- ■ tober, the maximum fall being 48 points on the Bth, minimum 1 point on the 7th, total for month 1.45 inches, as compared with 2.08 (1937), 3.31 (1936), 4.54 <1935), 2.68 (1934), 2.23 (1933), average for 35 years 3.49 inches. Total rainfall for 10 months 39.44 inches. as against 29.17 (1937), 38.29 '1936). 39.84 (1935), 32.52 (1934), 28.85 (1933), average for 35 years 33.77 inches..
