Caltaux kept well away from Foster’s dangerous left,' and, although he made it a poor fight from’ the crowd’s point of view, his tactics and strength made it impossible for the Canadian to do anything with him. In a preliminary match, Norman Fisher (Christchurch), . lOst 31b, 1936 Olympic representative, scored a win in his first professional bout by beating Norman Jenkin (Oamaru), lOst 41b, on points over 10 rounds. It was a grand battle all the way, and one of the best crowd-pleasing efforts seen in Dunedin for a long time. Fisher’s aggressiveness and fitness won him a close decision.
