A good house in the Town Hall tonight saw Vic Caltaux (Auckland), lOst 6Jlb, beat Johnny Foster (Canada), lOst 4Hb, on points over 12 rounds. Caltaux kept well away from Foster’s dangerous left,' and, although he made it a poor fight from’ the crowd’s point of view, his tactics and strength made it impossible for the Canadian to do anything with him. In a preliminary match, Norman Fisher (Christchurch), . lOst 31b, 1936 Olympic representative, scored a win in his first professional bout by beating Norman Jenkin (Oamaru), lOst 41b, on points over 10 rounds. It was a grand battle all the way, and one of the best crowd-pleasing efforts seen in Dunedin for a long time. Fisher’s aggressiveness and fitness won him a close decision.
