VERDICT OF GUILTY
MOTOR DRIVER CONVICTED ON THREE CHARGES WOMAN KILLED IN ACCIDENT (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, November 1. A jury in the Supreme Court in Wanganui today returned after an hour’s deliberation with a verdict of guilty on all three charges after hearing the remaining witness for the Crown in charges against Mataki Rokana, known as Murdock Rogan, of negligently driving a motor-truck, thereby causing the death of Joan Elizabeth Oldfield, Marton, on October, near Wangaehu; that being the driver of a motor-truck while in a state of intoxication he caused death and of failing to stop after an accident and inquire whether any person had been injured. Mr Justice Quilliam presided. Mr N. R. Bain, Crown prosecutor, conducted the case for the Crown and Mr V. B. Willis appeared for accused.
