HOUSEHOLD HINTS

To remove ice-cream stains from clothing, sponge the stains with clean, cold, water. If your aluminium saucepans are badly discoloured, try simmering some orange rinds covered with water for ten minutes in them. A good emergency funnel for pouring liquids is made by piercing a hole in the bottom of half an empty eggshell. If you get oil on material when sewing, sprinkle the part with talc-powder, leave a while, and then brush off. Repeat if necessary. To remove sea-water stains from brown leather articles, such as handbags and shoes, dissolve a piece of washing-soda in warm milk and rub over the articles.
