ADDITIONS TO PERMANENT FORCE DISTRIBUTION OF RECRUITS ESTIMATE OF PRESENT STRENGTH By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. The Minister for Defence, Mr H. V. C. Thorby, said that of the 10,000 men the Government planned to add to the Permanent Force, bringing its strength up to 20,000, 50 per cent would be allotted to the Army, 20 per cent to the Navy,: and 30 per cent to the Air Force. He added that Australia could at present added Australia could at present momobilise a force of nearly 100,000 men, comprising a permanent force of 10,170, a citizen force of 38,000 and 50,000 members of rifles clubs.
