Eighteen people were killed on October 25 in the worst air crash in the history of Australian aviation. The Australian National Airways’ Douglas D.C.3 air liner Kyeema overshot the Essendon Aerodrome and crashed into the Dandenong Mountain at 1.48 p.m. A picture of the main body of the wrecked Kyeema, showing part of the rear cabin, tail rudders and fin. The wreckage was scattered over an area of 200 square yards.
