VINDICATION OF HISTORY

CLAIMED

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.

LONDON, October 29.

The “Daily Herald’s” Vienna correspondent confirms a report that Herr Hitler visited Dr Schuschnigg, the former Austrian Chancellor, on October 25 and offered him the chance of avoiding life imprisonment or execution by declaring his conversion to Hitlerism at his forthcoming trial. Dr Schuschnigg did not reply immediately. His wife, who was admitted after the interview, is pressing for his acceptance. Herr Hitler is reported to have been conciliator}' and to have urged Dr Schuschnigg to admit that history had proved Herr Hitler to be right.
