Masterton, first innings, 215 (Reid 92, Brice 70, Longworth 26; McGregor took 6 wickets for 19). At one stage of the first innings of Old Boys, Reid had taken 6 wickets without a run having been scored off him, four of them in succession.

Bowlers had better records than batsmen when the Wellington Cricket Association’s first series of senior championship matches was concluded on Saturday afternoon. University started off well by beating Kilbirnie, last year’s champion team, by 40 runs on the first innings. University totalled 178 in thfir first

innings, and Kilbirnie replied with 138, toward which S. Wilson contributed 51. Midland defeated Wellington by 12 runs. Midland compiled 173 and Wellington 161.

Karori and Institute played a drawn game at Karori Park. Although J. Duffy and R. Coupland put on 79 for Karori’s first wicket, the whole side could only total 166. Institute, at call of time, had 131 on for the loss of six wickets, R. McLean, A. Lang (28), and A. McLean being the principal scorers.

Wellington. College Old Boys just failed to gain a win over Hutt on the Hutt recreation ground. Old Boys hit up 197, Hutt, at call of time, had lost nine wickets for 111 runs. DUNEDIN (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, October 29. Steady rain caused an abandonment of the first series of Dunedin grade championship cricket after barely an hour’s play on the second day. Albion was the only team to score a win, replying to Carisbrook B’s 154 with 160 for seven wickets (Goding not out, 78). Old Boys, 230, drew with Carisbrook 114 for eight (Groves five for 26). Grange, 367, drew with Kaikorai, 29 for one. Dunedin, 166, drew with University, 117 for eight.
