Mrs Les. Cross, of Wellington, has taken up her residence in Masterton. Miss Moreen Cohen, of Masterton, is visiting Dunedin.
Mr and Mrs H. Pearce, of Masterton, were weekend visitors to Wellington. Mrs J. Reid, Waimate, who has been visiting Masterton, has returned home.
Mrs Jeffries, of Te Awamulu. is the guest of her sister, Mrs M. R. Herbert, Eketahuna. Mr and Mrs W. Hoar, Cambridge (Terrace, spent the weekend in Welling- ! ton. Mr and Mrs F. M. Perry, of Napier, were visitors to Masterton and Martinborough for the weekend. Word was received in Masterton yesterday that the condition of Miss June Strouts, formerly of Masterton, who was seriously injured in a motor accident near Poukawa on Friday afternoon, had improved. Miss M.» Gillies, who had a leg broken in the accident is also improving. Miss Nelle Scanlan, well-known New Zealand novelist, arrived in Wellington from England by way of South Africa and Australia in the Awatea from Sydney on Saturday. She brought a motor-car with her and proposed to spend at least the whole of the coming summer motoring in both islands, and at the same time writing her next book. ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Jean, the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. A. Lambourn. of Hessey Street, Masterton, to Welsford George Truscott, of Cornwall Street, Masterton, only son of Mrs and the late Mr W. H. Truscott, Masterton. FEATHERSTON (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs Bergh and Miss Bloxam attended the Marsden School (Karori) Jubilee celebrations. Mrs J. George, Miss Ross and Mr J. Ross, of Pahiatua, paid a brief visit to Featherston and were the guests of Mr and Mrs Lawson.
